Codependency and the Secret on how to overcome it in 4 simple steps.


While I was talking a lot about Conditioning in my last videos, I am sharing with you today what Conditioning has done to me. I grew up to be a people pleaser and as such became a codependent person who had found a partner I could pour myself into.


I was needy. And whereas I needed my husband, he needed to be needed. So, we complemented each other.


He was the narcissist who had found someone who put his needs first, and their own last. And thus, we created a cycle of Codependency.


My self esteem and self worth came from sacrificing myself for my husband. And I didn?t even realize what I was doing. I felt pity for him and wanted him to need me. I wanted to help him with whatever difficulties he was facing. And also by telling myself that I could cope with any obstacle that we were going to face, something else happened: I actually attracted one obstacle after the other.


My parents recognized that something was wrong and didn?t like the fact that I had given myself up to my husband. But I couldn?t see that there was anything wrong.


It took me 23 years until I was so low in self esteem and self worth and absolutely at the end of my existence before I had the courage to change my situation.

In the Dictionary Codependency is defined by the Dependence on the needs of another or control by another.


In other words, a codependent person cannot function on their own. Their thinking and their behaviour is constantly organized around another person. Another sign is that they are excessively occupied with the needs of the other person. They put themselves last and have no autonomy. In the Positive Psychology autonomy is one of the criteria for happiness. Therefore, not being autonomous will never lead you to happiness.
