Coaching and Positive Psychology - How can it help you?
The reason why I am going to talk to you about Coaching today and how it relates to Positive Psychology is because I have realized that the wide majority of the population
1. Does not belief that coaching could help them
2. Think that if they ask for help, they appear to be weak or that there
is something wrong with them.
I had that awareness in a conversation with a gentleman with higher education. While he is very educated in business and also very successful in his job, he is not aware that coaching could be of any help to him. And he asked what would be more beneficial to him a ?shrink? (psychiatrist) or a coach?
If you have been following me, you would know that I am talking a lot about Conditioning. And by that I mean how we were influenced growing up.
You could have had the most beautiful child hood and had the best parents in the world and still you would have had events happening in your life that you were giving specific negative meaning.
And trust me, some of these negative meanings we drag along with us for the rest of our lives.
As a result we hold ourselves back.
We don?t allow ourselves to experience our full potential.
So, what is coaching anyway?
While counselling is looking into emotional resolutions to problems in the past, in coaching we try to create a new life path to achieve certain goals.

Counselling Enables You to Cope
The coaching I am involved in is Positive Psychology Coaching where we bring science and practice together. We focus on wellbeing, mindfulness, strength based coaching and neuroscience.
We do this in 4 Steps:
1. Environment - What is your thinking like, what are you telling yourself?
What is your mindset, vision, values, standards, beliefs?
2. Structure - Areas of your life you want help with;
If it was a business, in this step you would be talking about kpi?s, operations manuals, templates, checklists and categories.
3. Implementation - Actions, Conversations, Decisions.
4. Abundance - Who do you need to succeed? Are there other people involved as well?
Imagine what it would be like if there was help:
- When you feel stuck
- When you seem to be overwhelmed
- When you are frustrated
- When you can?t see into the future because it is so clouded
- When you have the feeling that there is no more joy left for you in life
- When you get the feeling that all you do is wrong
- When you feel unappreciated
- When you feel alone
- When you feel unloved
- etc.
